Cerrig Y Barcud is an ideal holiday base at any time of the year. The cottages are set in an idyllic location well back from a quiet country lane (pictured) leading directly to the Menai Straits. The nine acres of lawns and pasture provide a spacious area for all to enjoy.
For walkers, cyclists, lovers of nature and those wishing to visit the many attractions of the Island of Anglesey and North Wales we are conveniently situated and only ten minutes drive from the main Britannia Bridge
Visitors will find that Anglesey's attractions include sandy beaches, countryside, unspoilt villages, centuries of heritage, amazing scenery and incredible views of Snowdonia
A variety of wildlife can be seen around Cerrig y Barcud. Rabbits and hares can often be seen playing on our lawns as well as in our adjacent field which they share with sheep, and from February onwards, with newborn lambs.
Numerous bird species can be seen including pheasants and a Little Owl that visits us most days. A variety of other species can be seen feeding, nesting or just visiting, depending on the time of year. Just a short walk down our lane, the Menai Straits are home to many types of sea birds as well as herons who fish in the pools.
We also have a small family of friendly pygmy goats.
There are many designated circular walks on the Island of Anglesey including "The Anglesey Coastal Path" (Llwybr Arfordirol Ynys Mon), which passes our entrance.
The Coastal Path now practically circles the whole of Anglesey, including Holy Island, closely following the coastline and within the area of Outstanding Natural Beauty.
Our lane leads directly to the Menai Straits just 300 metres away where you will also find the "Sea Zoo" with its marine life and "Foel farm" where you can visit and feed the animals.
The games room is set apart from the cottages and is equipped with table tennis, pool table, table football etc., together with a treadmill and cross trainer. The games room also has separate lockable storage for bicycles, large luggage, fishing gear etc. We even have room for you to safely store your boat and trailer.
Despite our idyllic position, we are only one mile from a main road, in easy reach of all local amenities, and only ten minutes drive from the Brittania Bridge.
There is a Spar convenience store in our local village of Brynsiencyn, approximately 1 and a half miles away. Main shopping, including Tesco and Morissons is available at Bangor, only 15 - 20 minutes away, just over the Brittania Bridge. A little closer, at Menai Bridge is a Co-op Supermarket.
Marks & Spencers is now open in Bangor mainly for food but with a small selection of clothes, kitchenware, gifts etc.
There is a good mobile phone signal in the area and for those who need to keep in touch we can provide email facilities.
Day trips to Dublin by ferry from Holyhead are available.
